Katie Brown-Maxwell

Katie has been riding for 41 years.  She grew up with horses at home and competed on the National Circuit in hunters, jumpers and equitation.  As a professional, Katie has added Grand Prix and Hunter Derbies to her riding record.

Katie's approach to training young horses, retraining horses with challenges, and maintaning successful horses is centered around the horse being healthy and fit mentally as well as physically.  No horse is alike just like no person is alike.  Each horse is trained considering his/her personality while emphasizing the horse being accountable as a partner.

Katie has extensive teaching experience including starting kids and taking them all the way through hunter finals, equitation finals and Young Riders.  Katie's students are recognized by USEF for their excellence as they move up the pipeline.  She also coached the Clemson Equestrian Team for 6 years with many top ten finishes in the IHSA Nationals including an Open Equitation Over Fences National Champion.  Katie has been the chef d'equipe of the Zone 4 National Championship Pony Jumper Team for 6 years including 3 Gold, a Silver and a Bronze Medal.

Katie loves teaching her adult students helping them reach their goals while balancing "adulting" and riding.
